Credit Card Regulations

PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) provides a series of standards and guidelines related to how credit card information is to be obtained, transmitted, and stored by merchants who accept credit cards as a form of payment. This security standard is endorsed and mandated by the major credit card brands (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and JCB). Every department that accepts credit cards as a form of payment must create payment processes that adhere to the PCI DSS. This section of our website is dedicated to providing you with PCI DSS information and resources.

As an introduction to PCI DSS on campus and how it affects you as a merchant, please view the informational video intended for University employees. The slides associated with the video are available here.

PCI Self Assessment Questionnaire

The PCI SSC (Payment Card Industry Standards Security Council) mandates that merchants who accept credit card as a form of payment must complete an annual self-assessment questionnaire as part of the PCI validation process. A questionnaire will be available soon.

PCI DSS Security Awareness Training

Annual PCI DSS security awareness training must be completed by any University employee who is involved in the collection and or processing of credit card information. This could range from individuals who swipe credit cards through a point of sale terminal, or HigherOne users who log into NetPay to obtain reconciliation reports or anyone else who is involved in obtaining, collecting, transmitting or storing credit card information. Security Awareness Training Resources will be available soon.
