To: Parents of all Laboratory School Students

This letter is to inform you of billing procedures and dates for the 2007-2008 school year. This information will help you avoid confusion and penalties caused by late payment.

The Office of the Bursar will prepare a bill each quarter for the total charges due. This bill will be generated according to the schedule below and will be due prior to the start of each quarter. Upon payment in full, you will receive another bill showing a zero balance. Should we not receive payment, you will to sent another bill that may include a late payment fee. We will continue to send bills until full payment is received.

You may pay by sending a check and the bottom portion of the bill in the envelope provided. Please allow five days for payment by mail. You may also pay in person at the Bursar’s Office, which is open to the public from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Please note that if we do not receive payment by the due date, we may assess a $100 late charge to your account. A late payment may also result in your child's records being restricted. A restriction will prevent your child from enrolling for classes, using Laboratory Schools facilities, and graduating. If you do not receive a bill within a week of the mailing date, or if you have any questions about billing procedures, please contact the Bursar's Office at (773) 702-7086 or by email at bursar@listhost.uchicago.edu.

Alternative Payment Options

University employees may pay their children’s tuition through payroll deduction. Information about this payment option will be mailed in late May. If you have any questions about payroll deduction, please contact Barbara Johnson at (773) 702-2223 or by email at bjjohnso@uchicago.edu.

For other parents, the University offers alternative payment plans administered by Tuition Management Systems. These plans allow parents to pay all or part of the annual charges in equal, monthly installments. These are not loans and no interest or finance charges are incurred. Only a non-refundable administrative fee is required. Information regarding these payment plans will be mailed in late May.
