Student Life Fee for College Students

College students at the University of Chicago pay a Student Life Fee each quarter. Fee rates are set annually. Students who are not enrolled for courses during Summer Quarter pay a reduced fee rate if utilizing campus services. To enroll in the Summer Student Life Fee, go to my.UChicago, then choose Finances -> Account and Billing -> Summer Student Life Fee

These fees cover many services dedicated to enhancing the quality of student life and campus activities, and are used to provide and promote educational, social, cultural, and recreational programs and services for all students throughout the year. The fees support campus-wide services and resources, including student health and wellness, recreational facilities and activities, and student programming. Additionally, the fees make it possible for Campus and Student Life to offer a robust array of student support services. A portion of the student life fee is administered directly by students through Student Governing to fund Recognized Student Organizations and other student-driven activities and programs.

Student Life Fee for Graduate Students

Most registered graduate students at the University of Chicago pay a Student Life Fee each quarter. Fee rates are set annually. Students enrolled during Summer Quarter pay a reduced fee rate. To enroll in the Summer Student Life Fee, go to my.UChicago, then choose Finances -> Account and Billing -> Summer Student Life Fee

These fees cover many services dedicated to enhancing the quality of student life and campus activities, and are used to provide and promote educational, social, cultural, and recreational programs and services for all students throughout the year. The fees support campus-wide services and resources, including student health and wellness, recreational facilities and activities, and student programming. Additionally, the fees make it possible for Campus and Student Life and UChicagoGRAD to offer a robust array of student support services. A portion of the student life fee is administered directly by students through Student Governing to fund Recognized Student Organizations and other student-driven activities and programs. An additional portion of the fee is sent to schools and divisions for unit-specific student programming and support.

Exemptions

Students in certain specialized graduate and professional programs or with certain enrollment statuses are exempt from paying the fee.

Students who are NOT assessed the Student Life Fee include:

  • Booth Evening, Weekend, and Executive Programs students
  • SSA Evening Program students
  • Extended Residence students
  • Master of Liberal Arts Program students
  • Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics
  • Exchange students

The Student Life Fee is also waived for those students who live and study more than 100 miles from campus, and who will not be on campus during the quarter.
