Student Services Fee for College Students*

College students at the University of Chicago pay a Student Services Fee each quarter. Fee rates are set annually.

These fees cover many services dedicated to enhancing the quality of student services and campus activities, and are used to provide and promote educational, social, cultural, and recreational programs and services for all students throughout the year. The fees support campus-wide services and resources, including student health and wellness, recreational facilities and activities, and student programming. Additionally, the fees make it possible for Campus and Student Life to offer a robust array of student support services. A portion of the student services fee is administered directly by students through Student Governing to fund Recognized Student Organizations and other student-driven activities and programs.

Student Services Fee for Graduate Students*

Most registered graduate students at the University of Chicago pay a Student Services Fee each quarter. Fee rates are set annually.

These fees cover many services dedicated to enhancing the quality of student services and campus activities, and are used to provide and promote educational, social, cultural, and recreational programs and services for all students throughout the year. The fees support campus-wide services and resources, including student health and wellness, recreational facilities and activities, and student programming. Additionally, the fees make it possible for Campus and Student Life and UChicagoGRAD to offer a robust array of student support services. A portion of the student services fee is administered directly by students through Student Governing to fund Recognized Student Organizations and other student-driven activities and programs. An additional portion of the fee is sent to schools and divisions for unit-specific student programming and support.

Exemptions

Students in certain specialized graduate and professional programs or with certain enrollment statuses are exempt from paying the fee.

Students who are NOT assessed the Student Services Fee include:

  • Booth Evening, Weekend, and Executive Programs
  • SSA Evening Program
  • Harris Part-Time/Evening/Weekend Programs
  • Master of Liberal Arts Program
  • Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics Program
  • Extended Residence
  • Exchange students

The Student Services Fee is also waived for those students who live and study more than 50 miles from campus, and who will not be on campus during the quarter.
