Financial Aid Office VS. Office of the Bursar Services

The Office of the Bursar and Financial Aid Office both serve the University of Chicago student body. However, the differences between the services provided by each Office can often be confusing. Our Office has curated a list differentiating the services provided.

Financial Aid

• Students can apply for financial aid through their Office
• Financial Aid provides aid awards through grants and scholarships
• Their Office can receive loans
• Students can apply for student employment programs through their Office
• Advisors are available to discuss financial aid questions
• Their Office is available to assist all undergraduate students and select grad programs

Office of the Bursar

• We provide student account services
• We provide billing calendars
• We manage refunds
• We assist students in submitting applications for external scholarships
• We provide emergency assistance
• We inform students on policies
• We manage student account inquiries
