Incoming Graduate Students Checklist

The Office of the Bursar welcomes the new Graduate class to the University of Chicago!

The University of Chicago Office of the Bursar collaborates with new students and their support networks in successfully managing their Student Account.

Our Office wanted to provide incoming Graduate students with a checklist of all of the necessary actions to take in order to start their academic year off right! Below you will find everything you need to prepare yourself financially for your college career:

1. REVIEW THE UNIVERSITY HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN

The University of Chicago requires all students to possess health insurance coverage while in attendance. Students with alternative coverage may Waive the University Health Insurance Program (USHIP). All students who do not waive coverage by the published deadline will automatically be enrolled in the USHIP plan and subsequently assessed quarterly premiums. If you want to waive coverage, you may do so through the University Student Health Insurance Waiver/Enrollment; for more information on the University Health Insurance Program and other Student Wellness services, visit wellness.uchicago.edu.

2. REVIEW ELECTRONIC BILL

Notification of the availability is forwarded to your UChicago email account. Access to your electronic bill starts with your CNETID, which can be accessed through the my.UChicago student portal. You may also add Authorized Users* to view your Electronic Bill and remit payments. Students log into my.UChicago to view and submit payment and sign up for direct deposit. Authorized Users log into the Authorized User portal to view and submit payment. Check out our Billing and Due Dates page for information on how and where to make payment

We have many services to help with payments and identify various funding sources

3. REVIEW THE FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AGREEMENT

The University of Chicago requires all students to review and complete the Financial Responsibility Agreement. You’ll access the Financial Responsibility Agreement through your my.UChicago.edu student portal. This document outlines policies and procedures governing the management of your student account at the university during your academic career. Students must confirm a review of this information once during their educational career. Failure to complete the Financial Responsibility Agreement will result in restriction of future registration.

4. REVIEW REFUNDS

Please visit our bursar.uchicago.edu website for information on payment options and refunding if you expect a living expense refund disbursement. We highly encourage you to review and complete these processes online before arriving on campus.

Welcome again to the University of Chicago, and best of luck in your college career!
