Returning Graduate Students Checklist

Welcome back to the University of Chicago!

Here are a few quick steps to keep you and your support network financially ready for the year. Each one links to the page with the full details.

1.  Review Your Electronic Bill (EBill)

Check your quarterly EBill in the my.UChicago student portal, and add Authorized Users so your support network can view and pay. For dates and amounts, see Billing Information, the Billing Calendar, and Tuition and Fees.

2.  Review the University Health Insurance Plan

You're automatically enrolled in USHIP unless you waive it each year (waiver opens August 1). Have your own coverage? Waive by the deadline on the Student Wellness website.

3.  Refunds & Direct Deposit

Expecting a refund? Set up Direct Deposit in my.UChicago starting on August 1st. Details on Refunds.

4.  Payment Options

Pay by ACH from a U.S. bank account through EBill/EPay in my.UChicago. Want your support network to pay? Authorize up to 10 users for the Authorized User Portal. See Payments for all options, including international.

5.  Third-Party Contract Billing

Sponsor covering your tuition? Use Third-Party Contract Billing. Awards MUST be unconditional. Submit a new form each year at my.UChicago and note the quarters to invoice.

6.  Funding Sources

Looking for more support? Explore Funding Sources, including external scholarships, student loans, tuition remission, University aid, and Military Tuition Assistance.

7.  Quarterly Payment Plan

Prefer to pay in installments? Split each quarter's balance into three. Enroll once your statement posts, through my.UChicago or the Authorized User Portal. See the Quarterly Payment Plan page for eligibility, fees, and details.

8.  Policies

First, confirm you have no student account holds for this year. Then review the Bursar's account policies, including Add/Drop, Leave of Absence and Withdrawal, and the Financial Responsibility Agreement you'll e-sign your first quarter.

Welcome once again to the University of Chicago. If you have further questions, be sure to Contact Us or look into our Financial Wellness options. We look forward to supporting you and wish you all the best as you begin your academic journey!
